Children's Fund

The Children's Fund was launched in November 2000 as part of the government's commitment to tackle disadvantage among children and young people. The programme aims to address the gap in preventative services for children and young people at risk of social exclusion, by providing increased and better-coordinated preventative services for 5-13 year olds and their families.

The Children's Fund operates in every Local Authority area in England. Children's Fund Partnerships have produced strategic plans for 2005-08, based on their three-year allocation of funding. The plans set out clear strategies for the transition to children's trusts and describe how the Children's Fund will contribute to the local delivery of the Every Child Matters: Change for Children programme.

From 2005-2008 Children's Fund Partnerships in London will receive funds of £69 million to deliver preventative services for 5-13 year olds and their families.
