Regional public health groups work across government departments with a number of community and voluntary groups, non-governmental bodies and other public sector organisations to raise awareness of public health issues.

To encourage the sharing of best practice and learning the Directorate supports the Emphasis network. Emphasis provides a dedicated website, an annual conference and other events, a monthly e-bulletin and access to health-themed regional networks.
Public Health Intelligence. The Directorate works closely with the East Midlands Public Health Observatory (EMPHO). EMPHO is the regional health intelligence organisation providing information and analysis to support those working to improve health and reduce health inequalities in the East Midlands.
