Government Offices have a key role in delivering the Government’s vision that everyone should live in a decent home. Housing is the policy responsibility of Communities and Local Government, and the Government Offices work to deliver a number of the Department’s housing targets in the regions. They use their local knowledge both to work with a range of partners to promote and improve understanding of the Government’s housing policy and to influence the development of new housing initiatives.

We work in close partnership with local authorities and other partners, particularly the East Midlands Regional Housing Group and the Joint Regional Housing, Planning & Transport Board. As part of this role we look to support the implementation of the priorities identified in the Regional Housing Strategy (RHS). The RHS was published in July 2004 and is now being reviewed. The consultation period ended on 27 June 2008. The draft strategy can be found on the East Midlands Regional Assembly's website.
