Time to recognise stars in your community - nominate a voluntary group for a Queen's Award.


What is the Queen's Award?

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is given for outstanding achievement by groups of volunteers who:

  • regularly devote their time to helping others in the community
  • improve the quality of life and opportunity for others
  • provide an outstanding service.

Volunteer England administrates and publicises the Queen’s Award in the region. Government Office East Midlands convenes and chairs the Local Selection Panel and completes citations on the recommended groups.

How to Nominate:

To nominate a group of volunteers who make a difference in your community, you can:

East Midlands Winners in 2008

  • CKI School of Martial Arts
    The group aims to teach young people from across the community martial arts
  • Dukeries Community Workshop
    Provides a practical workshop where people can pursue their interests and skills
  • Northampton Hope Centre
    Meets the needs of homeless and disadvantaged people in Northampton
  • Thorplands United Football Club
    Provides football for all and youth activities in the interests of social welfare and community cohesion
