Resurfacing of the A52 Westbound Carriageway in Nottingham between Bramcote and Bardill’s islands

Published: Mon, 17 Aug 2009 12:10:42

A scheme to resurface 2 km (1.25 miles) of the A52 westbound carriageway between Bramcote and Bardill’s Islands will start on Friday 21 August.

The work to resurface the westbound carriageway and upgrade the road markings will require a number of overnight closures and a full weekend closure.

The road will be closed westbound from 8pm on Friday 21 August to 6am on Monday 24 August, and then overnight from 8pm to 6am between Monday 24 August and Friday 28 August.

A 50mph speed limit will be in place, 24 hours a day. All laybys between the two roundabouts will be closed and the traffic signals at Bramcote Island will also be altered for the duration of the works.

Highways Agency project manager Mark Braithwaite said:

“The work between Bardill’s and Bramcote roundabouts is essential to continue to provide a safe road surface and prolong the life of this very busy stretch of the A52.

“We are doing the work overnight and at weekends when traffic flows are lighter than during weekdays, and we aim to complete noisy work before 11pm to avoid disrupting nearby residents.

“Motorists should allow extra time for their journeys as there will be a diversion route in place.”

A clearly signed diversion route will be in place using the A6464 Woodside Road, then joining the A6005 Queens Road West and B6003 Stapleford Lane/Toton Lane to rejoin the A52.
