Reflexologist working with GOEM staff

Achieving a Healthier Working Life, with Working Well East Midlands

Published: Thu, 10 Nov 2005 00:00:00

Government Office for the East Midlands is part of a regional programme, Working Well East Midlands, which aims to improve working lives through healthy corporate policies and actions to support individual lifestyle change.

To launch its involvement in this programme GOEM held a one day event where staff were invited to a Know Your Numbers session (blood pressure and cholesterol testing) and offered reflexology and massage.

Information was available on healthy eating, physical activity and smoking cessation and pedometers were also on offer to encourage an active lifestyle.

Sessions were booked in advance and filled up in the first few hours. Many people expressed a desire to have the sessions repeated and GOEM are looking at extending this service.

The benefits of reflexology spoke for themselves as staff enjoyed a relaxing 20 minute break during the working day.

Wellbeing is what the event was all about and we are hoping to offer more of the same as we develop a comprehensive programme of workplace wellness.
