Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (East Midlands)(BERR) New appointment and re-appointments to the board of East Midlands Development Agency

Published: Fri, 01 May 2009 11:12:08

Pat McFadden, Minister of State for Employment Relations and Postal Affairs, today announced a new appointment and two reappointments to the Board of the East Midlands Development Agency (emda).

Martin Bryant will take up his appointment to the Business Position on the board on 1 May for two years and seven months and Tricia Pedlar and Haydn Biddle are reappointed for a further three years from 14 December 2009.

Pat McFadden said:

"I am pleased to be appointing Martin Bryant and to be reappointing Tricia Pedlar and Haydn Biddle to the Board of East Midlands Development Agency. Their experience and leadership is extremely important during these difficult economic times.

"The RDA's work providing real help for families in the East Midlands and the businesses on which they depend for their jobs has never been more vital. They are on the frontline of our response to the global downturn and must make the right interventions and investments to help us emerge stronger."

Dr Bryan Jackson OBE, emda's Chairman said:

"Martin Bryant's appointment will bring a fresh perspective to our work. His experience of working in the business community will offer a valuable insight into the challenges companies are facing in these times of unprecedented economic change. I am delighted to welcome Martin to emda's Board and look forward to working with him as we help to prepare the region for the upturn.

"I also am extremely pleased that the Minister has agreed to the re-appointments of both Hayden and Tricia. This continuity means they will continue to help steer our Board's response to the recession, ensuring emda delivers for the region during these difficult economic times."
