Brian Hackland will be taking on the role as interim GOEM Regional Director when Jane leaves in addition to his current responsibilities as the Regional Director for Government Office for the East of England.
Brian will be focussing on external GOEM business, including working closely with the Regional Minister. Roger Poole will continue to be the Deputy to the Regional Director, working closely with Brian supporting him in his role and focusing on managing the transformation of GOEM.
Brian has been Regional Director of the Government Office for the East of England since November 2005, and was previously responsible for the Town and Country Planning System in England (working in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister), following a period in the Prime Minister’s Policy Directorate where he advised on transport and the environment. His other policy responsibilities since joining the Civil Service in 1991 have included housing, regeneration and the environment. He has also worked in the House of Commons and in local government.
Brian told us:
"I'm delighted to be joining GOEM and the region, and looking forward to meeting and working closely with key partners in the months ahead."
