Published: Mon, 25 Jun 2007 14:39:41

Government Office East Midlands opened its doors to delegates from across the East Midlands to join in the festivities to celebrate the success of the 2000-2006 European Structural Fund Programmes.

Around 100 delegates from across the region joined the Government Office to celebrate the achievements of the 2000-2006 European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), European Social Fund (ESF) and Leader + programmes.

Successful East Midlands projects from the ERDF, ESF and Leader + programmes were invited to display their work, including EM Media Investment Fund, Prince’s Trust Loan Fund and the Lincolnshire Fenlands Local Action Group.

Presentations were held throughout the day, and guest speakers including Stan Crawford from the Sherwood Energy Village and Laurie Moran from CEFET came in to talk about how European Structural Funds have benefited their work. Marie-Laure Huke from GOEM and Emma Corbett from the East Midlands Development Agency (emda)gave a presentation on the new round of ERDF and ESF programmes due to start later this year.

Since 2000, over 1,250 projects in the East Midlands have been funded by almost £500 million European Structural Funds. The new European Structural Fund programmes are due to commence later this year with approximately £188 million ERDF and £156.6 million ESF allocated to the East Midlands region over the period from 2007-2013.
