Delegates at the East Midlands Rural Affairs Forum (EMRAF) annual conference can take part in interactive sessions about how climate change impacts on housing, rural accessibility, market towns and community safety.
Keynote speaker Richard Davies, Director of Marches Energy Agency, will outline what the main challenges are for the region, and Councillor David Sprason, Vice Chair of the East Midlands Regional Assembly (EMRA) - nominated as one of the region's climate change ambassadors - will talk about the Nottingham declaration on climate change.
EMRAF chair Pam Smith said:
"Climate change is topical and cuts across all sectors and activities, It's not an easy theme but we hope to engage all stakeholders and take forward collective regional action. This is a genuine attempt to de-mystify what is a complex subject and link it to the reality of our lives in the region.
"I hope that at the end of the day we will all have a better understanding of how we can work at our own levels to assist in the fight against climate change. If everyone takes away from the conference just one practical thing they can do this will be an achievement."
Anyone wanting to attend the conference at the Pera Innovation Park, Melton Mowbray, can do so via the EMRAF website below. The event is open to everyone, residents, rural businesses, voluntary and community groups, residents, farmers, and anyone with an interest in rural issues.
