Re-appointment of the Chair of East Midlands Development Agency

Published: Thu, 14 Jun 2007 11:06:25

Margaret Hodge, Minister of State for Industry and the Regions, has announced the re-appointment of Bryan Jackson, Chair of East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA) for a period of three years, from 14 December 2007.

Bryan Jackson told us:

"I am delighted to be appointed for a further three years. We have embarked on an exciting journey and I am pleased to be given the opportunity to continue in our endeavors to make the East Midlands a Flourishing Region"

EMDA is one of nine English regional development agencies (RDAs) and it is the driving force behind economic regeneration in the East Midlands. RDA Chair posts attract a remuneration of £78,931 per year for a commitment of three days per week.

Within the last five years, Mr Jackson has not undertaken any political activities. The original appointment was made following open competition in accordance with the requirements set down in the Commissioner for Public Appointments Code of Practice. All appointments are made on merit and political affiliation plays no part in the selection process.

Margaret Hodge said:

"Bryan Jackson has brought energy and focus to the board of EMDA. I am pleased to extend his appointment for a further three years to enable him to continue the valuable work of leading the agency as a driver of economic development in the region"
