Stephen, who is currently Director of Skills at the Department of Business,
Innovation and Skills, has a long and distinguished career in the civil
service with extensive experience in Whitehall, including senior leadership
roles in all aspects of education and skills policy.
He will join us on 4 January 2010 to lead the Government Office in the East
Midlands (GOEM) to help steer the region through an exciting and important
period of change.
I will continue as interim Regional Director until Stephen is in post and
wanted to take this opportunity to thank regional colleagues for bearing
with us through this period of change for GOEM and for your support to me
in the interim role. I know Stephen is very much looking forward to meeting
you in the New Year.
