Regional Economic Performance

Government Office for the East Midlands (GOEM) works in partnership with East Midlands Development Agency (emda) and East Midlands Regional Assembly (EMRA) to improve regional economic performance and achieve the targets set out in the Regional Economic Strategy (RES).

Government Offices work with regional partners to reduce the gap in economic growth rates between regions. With their regional partners, the Government Offices provided input to the Government’s Spending Review 2004, which sets out plans for government spending from 2005–2008. ‘Regional Emphasis Documents’ were jointly prepared by the Government Office, Regional Development Agency and Regional Assemblies in each English region. More information on the national picture

The East Midlands Regional Emphasis Document (RED) set out how public spending in the region could be refocused and delivered in different ways in order to meet regional priorities and government targets more effectively.
