Government Office for the East Midlands (GOEM) works with regional partners to improve the economic performance of the region. This includes working with the east midlands development agency, towards Government’s economic policy objectives. including improving the skills of the region's workforce and facilitating work in enterprise.

Government Offices (GOs) work with Government departments and other partners to strengthen the economy in every region, working to reduce the gap in economic growth rates between the regions. More information on the national picture

We work with many regional partners to deliver improvements in regional economic performance, including:

  • East midlands development agency (emda)
  • East Midlands Regional Assembly (EMRA)
  • Learning and Skills Councils
  • Regional Business Link
  • Local Authorities

We work in partnership with Her Majesty’s Treasury, Communities and Local Government,  Department for Work and Pensions and the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform to  deliver Government policies. Needs differ across the region.  We work closely with emda to achieve the targets set in the Regional Economic Strategy and with the Regional Assembly, who have the task of scrutinising emda’s work in the region.
