Milton Keynes and South Midlands Sub-Regional Strategy

The First Secretary of State has now published the final Milton Keynes and South Midlands Sub-Regional Strategy (MKSM SRS).

The MKSM SRS spans three regions, the East of England, the South East and the East Midlands. In the East of England it sets out a spatial strategy for the growth locations of Bedford/Kempston/Marston Vale, Luton/Dunstable/Hougton Regis and Leighton Linslade.

The draft MKSM SRS was published by the Regional Assemblies for the South East, East of England and East Midlands in July 2003. An independent panel was appointed by the First Secretary of State to conduct an examination in public of selected matters arising out of the draft strategy.

Consultation on The First Secretary of State's proposed changes ran from 26 October to 23 December 2004. Overall, 426 representations were received. A Summary of Consultation on the Secretary of State's Proposed Changes is published with the Sub Regional Strategy. The First Secretary of State, after taking account of the responses from the consultation, has now published the final MKSM SRS.

Copies of the Strategy have been distributed to all Participants at the Examination in Public, libraries, Members of Parliament, Members of the European Parliament and Local Planning Authorities.

Copies of the Milton Keynes and South Midlands Sub-Regional Strategy are now available from The Stationery Office.

In accordance with section 113(3) of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, any person aggrieved by the revisions to the MKSM SRS may make an application to the High Court not later than the end of the period of six weeks from the 17 March 2005 on the ground that:
a) Revisions to MKSM SRS are not within the power of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act
b) A procedural requirement has not been complied with.
