Sustainable Communities

Government Office for the East of England’s role is to work across organisations to enable partners to become engaged on the Sustainable Communities Plan, ensure good practice is recognised and exchanged, and lead on presentation and communication of the Sustainable Communities Programme in the region. We are also actively involved in bringing together the agendas of Whitehall departments within Government Office for the East of England to facilitate the delivery of the Sustainable Communities Plan.

Government Offices make a vital contribution to the Government’s commitment to develop thriving, vibrant, sustainable communities. The ‘Sustainable Communities Plan’ (published by the then Office of the Deputy Prime Minister), will affect every region as part of the Government’s drive to raise the quality of life in our communities through increasing prosperity, reducing inequalities, producing more employment, better public services and better health and education.
