A Place for Culture and Sport in New LAAs

On Monday 26th November GO-East, in partnership with Sport England East, Arts Council East, Museums Libraries Archives East of England, English Heritage and Living East, jointly hosted The Place for Culture and Sport in LAAs event at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford.

Chaired by Cllr Chris White (Chair of the Local Government Association's Culture, Tourism and Sport Board) the event attracted over 150 delegates including many elected Members. Cllr Stephen Castle, chair of Nations and Regions East outlined the potential of using the London 2012 Olympics as a hook in LAAs. The size and response of the audience demonstrated that there is a genuine appetite for maximising the culture and sport content of new LAAs and sharing good practice within and between regions.
