Follett visits Suffolk Family Carers to mark National Carers Week and highlight the Skills Pledge

On 12 June, the Minister for the East of England, Barbara Follett, met and listened to family carers supported by a charity in Ipswich, which helps people access training and employment. The visit to Suffolk Family Carers was part of the region's celebration of National Carers week.

The search to find a new chair for the East of England Development Agency was launched on Sunday 14 June 2009. This follows the announcement by Richard Ellis the current EEDA Chair of his intention to stand down in early 2010 to spend more time with his family and his growing business.
Minister for the East of England visits Southend to see a Family Centre in action and to learn about regeneration through education

Barbara Follett, Minister for the East of England today met users and staff of a children's centre to find out about the support that is available to families in Southend. She went on to the University of Essex and South East Essex in the town to learn about their achievements and find out how developments at both institutions are helping regenerate the town. Both visits considered the role the Council and its partners are playing in the context of the economic downturn.
East of England joins national week of action to tackle drugs

National Tackling Drugs Week was launched today by the Home Office. Its aim is to highlight and promote the work that goes on throughout the year in communities to reduce the harm caused by illegal substances.
