The East of England Water Partnership, the first of its kind in the country, consists of high level representation from private sector businesses and regional public sector bodies in the East of England. At the launch event, Barbara Follett and Partnership representatives signed a concordat that sets out the aims and objectives of the Partnership as well as its purpose, governance and commitment to joint working.
The Partnership will bring together existing good work in the region, including the work of Waterwise East, the regional centre of excellence on water efficiency issues, and the Regional Climate Change Partnership to develop a more strategic approach to water resource planning and efficiency.
The Partnership is supported by a Delivery Group that has responsibility for implementing the strategic direction and objectives of the Partnership. The Delivery Group is developing an action plan that will deliver the Partnership's aims and will ensure that water resource issues are taken into account in the Joint Implementation Plan for the Regional Spatial Strategy and the Regional Economic Strategy.
Both the East of England Water Partnership and the Delivery Group are chaired by the Environment Agency, with Secretariat support provided by Government Office for the East of England.
