Tourism

In the East of England, tourism is one of the key economic sectors, generating around £5billion per year and employing over 185,000 people. Government Office for the East of England works with the East of England Tourist Board (EETB) and the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) to help promote and support tourism in the region.

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) champions good quality service for tourists, from both the UK and overseas. The Department encourages and helps the tourism industry to improve what it has to offer, with Government Offices supporting tourism initiatives to maintain the health of the tourism industry in each region. More information on the national picture

The East of England Tourist Board (EETB) is the only regional organisation whose sole purpose is developing and supporting tourism in the region. It is part-funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport with the funding channelled through (and augmented by) the East of England Development Agency (EEDA). It lobbies for tourism interests and provides support for tourism businesses across the region, working in partnership with EEDA, the other cultural agencies and local authorities.

You can find out more about the EETBs, priorities and what it delivers, on its website.
