The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) aims to improve the quality of life for all through providing better sporting opportunities at every level. Sport is very powerful both in the pursuit of excellence and helping to tackle social and health problems. The 2004 Spending Review will bring £431 million from central government for sport over the period 2005 to 2008.

London 2012
GO-East has an Olympics Champion at Board level, thematic leads across the GO who participate in the regional theme meetings and a small supporting project team.
We are supporting, challenging, advocating and identifying gaps in the regional approach to 2012 action planning including legacy, via our theme leads, GO Champion and DCMS Representative. We are also represented on the Nations & Regions East Strategic Board and Executive Group.
We have a 2012 Champion Group membership of which includes the 2012 Regional Project Manager and the GO Board meet Nations & Regions East Senior management team every 6 months to discuss progress.
