Government Offices make a regional contribution to the Government’s aim to build a safe, just and tolerant society, protect the public and ensure the balance between the rights and responsibilities of individuals, families and communities is properly maintained. Government Offices also deliver the four key themes of the National Drug Strategy.

We do this by working to improve the effectiveness of the region's 46 Crime
and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRPs) and the 10 Drug and Alcohol
Action Teams (DAATs) by:

providing advice and
support in delivering the government's crime and drugs Public Service
Agreement targets

providing a link between
the partnerships and central government departments.

monitoring partnership
performance through the Local Area Agreements.

providing partnership
challenge and improvement support

sharing effective
practice.

providing training
opportunities, conferences and seminars
Government Offices provide
links between crime reduction and drug action programmes and other
Government initiatives such as social inclusion and the regeneration of
deprived communities. We work closely with the following co-located
teams:

Home Office Regional
Research Analysis Team, which undertakes research and analysis of crime
patterns and trends with an emphasis on identifying, evaluating and
disseminating good practice to CDRPs.

Drugs National Treatment
Agency (NTA) Team, which drives the delivery of drugs treatment
services throughout England.

National Offender
Management Service (NOMS) Strategic Partnership Manager.

Regional Public
Health
We also work with the Office for Security and Counter-Terrorism in the Home
Office to help deliver elements of the UK’s counter-terrorism
strategy (known as CONTEST), and with Communities and Local Government to
support communities to improve their capacity to fight extremism.
