Government Offices will work closely with regional partners to develop and implement the Further Education Reform Strategy. They will work together through Regional Quality Improvement Partnerships (RQIPs).
The Regional Quality Improvement Partnership [RQIP] was set up in May 2006 with members from across the post-16 learning and skill sectors including the Learning and Skills Council, Government Office for the East of England, Ofsted, Adult Learning Inspectorate, Quality Improvement Agency, the Sector Skills Council Lifelong Learning UK and representatives from Colleges, Schools and Education and Training Organisations.
The overarching mission for the RQIP is to develop a Further Education Sector in the Region which delivers training, education and learning of the highest quality and standard and which meets the needs of learners and employers within the East of England. GO-East’s contribution is primary: in bringing a cohesive perspective [drawn upon our strategic engagement with partners across the full range of the children and learners agenda]; in bringing clarity around the interpretation of related DCSF policy [particularly on the emerging 14-19 agenda]; and in acting as a conduit between Regional partners and DCSF colleagues makers to help shape future Government policy.
In addition to its work with RQIP, the Government Office is also working with the East of England Development Agenda, the Learning Skills Council and others to address the gaps in quality FE provision which exist in certain parts of the region.
